Ten years ago, meeting people in a new city usually meant a bar. In 2026 it increasingly means a pace group. Strava's Year in Sport report counts more than a million clubs on the platform, with run club creation up 3.5x year over year. That is a lot of people trading a 2am Uber for a 7am alarm.

Ask anyone at a group run why they keep coming back and you get some version of the same answer. People show up for the hang. The run is the excuse.

The sober-social boom, in three numbers

Every trend piece needs receipts. Ours come from Eventbrite's soft clubbing study, which tracked how fast alcohol-optional nightlife is growing:

478%
Growth in coffee-first social events in one year
92%
Growth in sober-curious event listings over the same stretch
61%
Share of Gen Z who say they want to drink less

Houston is the outlier that proves the point. Coffee rave attendance there grew 1,800% against 150% growth nationwide, according to the same study. The people who wanted a scene at 11pm still want one. They just want it with electrolytes and a bedtime.

The gym is charging cover now

Bloomberg reported this spring that gyms are replacing bars in Gen Z's social and dating lives. Some social-first fitness clubs now run $300 a month, and members pay it for the same reason people once paid a cover charge: that is where their people are.

Forbes filed the same shift under a bigger idea, the third space boom. A third space is anywhere that is neither home nor work, and for decades the default was a bar. Forbes calls community "the new currency" in its look at how those spaces are being rebuilt around movement, coffee, and actual conversation.

What this looks like in West Palm Beach

None of this is theory for us. Move More Collective builds this exact room in South Florida: movement-driven nightlife where you run, dance, and connect, no substances required. That is Midnight Moves, and there is a spot with your name on it.

If the reports above describe the person you are becoming, come find out what a night out feels like when you wake up proud of it.
